Welcome

WESTBRIDGE was registered at the kennel club Sept 1981

My first dog was a sable Rough Collie, Jason of Kentine, born 11/11/1973 followed a few years later with Ugonys Dream of Oliver, a great blue merle of the old Westcarrs breeding and my love affair with Blue merles.

I got my first Smooth collie in the early 80s from the Cotsbelle kennels of Betty Hodgets where I found them to be more fun than the Roughs.

In the 90s I fell for the Schnauzers.

At Westbridge we pride ourselves on good temperaments of all our dogs, which is a vital part when looking for a pet that will fit into any life style.

Victors are always welcome to meet all our dogs we don’t be leave in only showing you a few we are proud ourselves and are happy to show off all our dogs here by appointment only as we do have a busy life and need to make sure we have the time to show you around.

We also like new puppy owner to visit as often as they like to see the new puppy before taking them home sometimes distance is a problem and I am happy to pick out a puppy from a litter for you which as worked for many new owners of a westbridge puppy.
We are fully licensed with the local council, which means our kennels are up to date on standard of welfare, which is very important knowing where your new puppy is coming from.

2018 WE HAVE DECIDED TO CUT BACK ON OUR BREEDING AND WILL HAVE A LIMIT NUMBER OFF PUPPIES DURING THE YEAR WITH MAYBE ONE OR TWO LITTERS BEING BRED HERE .

Please be aware when enquiring about a puppy that I will also be asking questions about yourself and your home life.

Please feel free to look around my pages and if you are interested in coming over and meeting the dogs please feel free to call or email me where I would be happy to talk and chat about the dogs which are a great passion for me

It is nearly two years ago since Bridget, Smooth coat Collie, came to live with me. She has certainly come out of her shell, is very opinionated, bossy and confident, except for loud or unexpected noises, particularly fireworks. She is so affectionate and loves small, white dogs, but hates Schnauzers! She also has an aversion, when on the lead, to large black, brown or golden dogs and barks like mad at them. Off the lead she is very friendly and loves all animals and children. Although I have had her for nearly two years she is still hard work outside the home, but I love her to bits. She is my fifth Collie, I wouldn't have anything else. Does anyone know how I can teach her to chase a ball?

Hi Andrew. I though you would like an update on a dog we bough from you 4 years ago. His name is Yogi and he has grown to be a very clever and happy dog, honestly he is part of the family and we couldn't imagine our lives without him! Thanks Ari and Richard

Hi Andrew, seems a nice time to update you on Alfred (std schnauzer....westbridge summer fever) who is about to turn 10yrs old!! Alfred has lived up to, and exceeded at times, the description of a schnauzer! Loyal, STUBBORN, strong willed, territorial, crazy and fabulous! We got Alfred before we had our human babies, so hadn't considered the breed in relation to family, we could not have asked for a better dog with our young kids. He is still going strong, vets often commenting that he appears younger than his age health wise. We never forget that day we met him and then the day we picked him up. Hope all is well.

We got our two stunning std schnauzers 4 years ago. We took Alan (from edie) and Maggie (Westbridge Indy Summer) we wanted dogs we could run with but who weren't too big.I am very proud to say that Alan (black) competed in the European canicross championships in Scotland in 2015. And this weekend he (and I) came 5th in the British championships in Thetford forest!! Andrew was awesome with advice and allowed us many many visits to see our babies. I totally love these guys!!!! At 14.4kg Alan was at least 6kg lighter than all the other dogs this weekend and still beat bigger dogs!!!!

We bought Inka a Standard Schnauzer puppy from Westbridge just over 16mths ago, and for the past 12mths she has been very challenging in her behaviour. She was so full of spirit she constantly launched herself at us whilst we were relaxing on the sofa using us as springboards. She also snatched objects out of our hands, and grabbed at our clothing ripping them all in play. Also she was so demanding and rough it was difficult to play with her without sporting cut hands. She was just like an unruly teenager and I seriously doubted she was the right dog for us. But, now she is a different dog completely she has calmed down so much. She is much better behaved and wants to please us, coming back to us instead of running off to play with other dogs or worse still chasing the horses in the fields. She has learned "On trust" and "Shake a paw" She is now a pleasure to have, very loving and protective towards us. So if you are having a trying time with your unruly pup just be patient, I'm sure you will be rewarded and your pet will settle down given time.

Otto Westbridge Songmaster is nearly Eight years old now, and my best friend. He has proved to be amazingly healthy, sturdy and the MOST intelligent companion. He has a wonderful sense of fun, and he is popular among the dog walkers we know. We are always complimented on how very handsome he is, and he knows it. Otto struts as only a Schnauzer knows how. Emile my son, is now 18 and he considers him to be his little brother, and Otto is very much our family. I've had a couple of serious operations, and each time when I come home Otto has been a watchful and protective assistant, he does little jobs around the house, collecting things we need. He loves to be taught new activities. I'm so fortunate to have Otto , and that he came from such a good home.
